Demand for Omega-3s Rising: Canadian Company Increases Supply

Saskatoon, SK – Bioriginal Food & Science Corp. will expand its ability to meet the growing omega-3 demand in North America, as a result of its supplier’s increased lipid production. Croda Health Care, Bioriginal’s supplier of quality nutritional lipids, plans to more than double its manufacturing capacity at their new UK plant this summer.

“Croda’s expansion will allow us to offer even more of the highest-quality omega-3 oils to health and nutrition distributors across North America,” commented Joe Vidal, COO and CFO at Bioriginal.

Research continues to show omega-3s’ benefits for conditions such as diabetes, joint health and cancer; they are also noted for their protection against heart attack and stroke. “The FDA’s recently approved health claim regarding omega-3s reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease has generated much media attention, and created more consumer demand,” explained Vidal. Statistics show annual growth for omega-3s in the US has increased by 20 per cent annually, and the upward trend is expected to continue.

Bioriginal is known as the world’s leading supplier of high-quality essential fatty acid (EFAs) oils and other functional food ingredients containing omega-3s.
