Denali offers Greek yogurt flavors, stabilizers

Dairy manufacturers can get the full complement of formulas, stabilizers and flavor ingredients necessary to manufacture Greek frozen yogurts.

Denali Ingredients, a leading ingredients innovator supplying the food industry, introduces a new line of Greek frozen yogurt concepts. The Denali Ingredients Greek Frozen Yogurt program provides dairy manufacturers with the full complement of formulas, stabilizers and flavor ingredients necessary to begin manufacturing Greek frozen yogurts. Prototype samples are available immediately by request to ice cream manufacturers interested in evaluating the new system.

Denali will begin by offering three primary flavor concepts, including Vanilla Honey Cinnamon Swirl, Blueberry Cheesecake and Raspberry Chocolate Chunk. The Company will also offer a new stabilizer system, called Ideal #680, that has been formulated to work particularly well in Greek Frozen Yogurt products.

The Greek yogurt market has seen unprecedented growth the past few years, as consumers gravitate towards better-for-you, "authentic" foods. In contrast to traditional ready-to-eat yogurts, Greek yogurts typically have a higher-protein, lower-fat profile and are creamier in consistency. Many industry analysts expect the next jump of the Greek yogurt phenomenon to be in the frozen category, a key reason for the timing of Denali's on-trend system introduction.

"We're offering our dairy partners a single-source solution that allows them to make Greek Frozen Yogurts that are consistent with the creamy, protein-rich product that consumers expect," said Doug Allen, Director of Business Development- Stabilizer Systems at Denali Ingredients. "Our Frozen Greek Yogurts deliver six to seven grams of protein, which is more than double that of a typical frozen yogurt. They also provide excellent freezing performance and superior heat shock protection, so they are easy to implement at the manufacturing level."

Replicating the smooth, dense texture of Greek yogurts at low fat levels within the frozen dairy environment has proven to be a challenge for the entire industry up to now. Denali Ingredients Greek Frozen Yogurts are designed to offer a high-protein, low-fat, creamier profile of traditional refrigerated Greek yogurts.

With the introduction of the Greek Frozen Yogurt system, Denali Ingredients continues to build its niche within the ingredients industry as flavor and texture innovators.
