Broomfield, CO – October 2, 2003 – Univera, Inc., parent company of a global “ECONET” family of companies committed to the betterment of mankind, including Aloecorp, Inc., Unigen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Oasis Wellness Network, has announced the appointment of John Rhees as President and Chief Executive Officer of Aloecorp effective October 1, 2003. Rhees replaces Mick Anderson, a twelve-year Aloecorp veteran who served the company in that role for seven years. Anderson will continue to preside over Aloecorp’s European sales and marketing activities as the company’s Vice President of European Operations, and will assume additional responsibilities for the Southeastern U.S. region. He is relocating to Florida with his wife Gayle to be closer to their children and new grandchild. Univera, Inc. is the holding company for its U.S.-based affiliates, Aloecorp, Unigen Pharmaceuticals and Oasis Wellness Network.
Rhees brings to Aloecorp a vast background in the dietary supplement industry. As an entrepreneur he founded two companies, one of which was a contract manufacturing business he sold in 2000, now known as Cornerstone Labs in Farmington, Utah. Prior to his divestiture of Cornerstone Labs, Rhees founded and operated Modern Packaging, a company specializing in the manufacture of equipment and packaging used in the dietary supplement industry. During his career, he received various awards for package and equipment design, and manufactured products for many major marketing companies in the U.S., including GNC, Nuskin, and Doctor’s Preferred.
According to Univera’s Chief Financial Officer, H.Y.Sung, “John brings a wealth of experience to Aloecorp, having been involved in the dietary supplement industry for most of his adult life. Along with his knowledge in the natural health field, he brings a sense of integrity and commitment long respected by his peers.” Sung also praised Anderson, saying, “Mick has been a backbone of Aloecorp and all it stands for, being part of the company almost from its inception. Rhees is a graduate of Weber State University where he received a Bachelors degree in business administration and political science. He is the father of six children and grandfather of five. He and his wife, Angie, presently reside in Huntsville, Utah and plan to relocate to Colorado within a few months.
