DNP International Named Ingredient Distributor for Shugr - International Distribution Positions Shugr for Blockbuster Sales Potential

Los Angeles, CA (April 21, 2005) – Health Sciences Group, Inc. (OTCBB:HESG), provider of innovative nutritional products and functional food ingredients derived from natural sources, announced today that it has signed a non-exclusive distribution agreement with DNP International Co., Inc. to distribute its Swiss Diet® Shugr(TM) sweetener as a raw material ingredient to manufacturers nationwide and globally. DNP International is a leading importer and distributor of raw materials to manufacturers in the food, beverage and nutritional supplement industries, among others.

"We are extremely pleased to have DNP as our primary raw material distributor of Shugr(TM)," said Fred E. Tannous, Co-chairman and CEO of Health Sciences Group, Inc. "Our partnership with DNP allows us to broaden our commercial marketing and sales reach, it provides us access to the raw material ingredients marketplace and moves us one step further in our international growth strategy. Because of its great taste, natural profile, low glycemic index and excellent cooking and baking qualities, Shugr(TM) is expected to become the sweetener of choice for many manufacturers who seek a natural, zero-calorie replacement for cane sugar or other sweeteners in their diet and diabetic-friendly products. We believe our partnership with DNP will allow us to, not only increase the exposure for Shugr(TM) in this category, but also generate significant revenues from worldwide sales of Shugr(TM) as a raw material ingredient."

"We see a distinct need in the marketplace for an alternative non-nutritive sweetener, and we feel that Shugr(TM) fills this need perfectly," said Hovsep Margaryan, Vice President of DNP International. "We're particularly impressed with the taste, which is virtually indistinguishable from table sugar. We feel this offers a significant advantage to manufacturers, who will no longer need to mask the aftertaste of other non-nutritive sweeteners. And, since Shugr is 99.5% natural, we believe it will appeal to consumers concerned about synthetic sweeteners."

Shugr(TM) is made from sugars that occur naturally in such good-tasting, healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, corn and dairy products. Called erythritol, maltodextrin and tagatose, these natural sugars provide a clean and delicious sweet taste. Erythritol is commonly found in melon, grapes, mushrooms and soy. Maltodextrin is derived from corn sugar, which is non-GMO and gluten-free. Tagatose comes from dairy products, but does not affect people who are lactose intolerant. Tagatose also provides an added health benefit -- prebiotic fiber that promotes intestinal health, much the way yogurt does. All of these ingredients carry a GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) designation for food safety from the US Food & Drug Administration.

Shugr(TM) does not contain any aspartame, neotame, saccharin, fructose, high fructose corn syrup, acesulfame-K, cane sugar, honey or stevia.

"As a complement to our overall retail strategy, we believe the distribution of Shugr(TM) as a raw material ingredient greatly enhances its market appeal and acceptance," said Bill Glaser, Co-chairman and President of Health Sciences Group. "We believe our distribution agreement with DNP will aid us in achieving this objective and pave the path to making Shugr(TM) a blockbuster product."
