Keith Berkowitz, M.D., the director of The Center for Balanced Health in New York City, and one of America’s leading authorities on low-carbohydrate weight loss programs, has joined the Editorial Advisory Board of LowCarb Living, the leading consumer magazine in the low-carb arena. The announcement was made today by Catherine LaCroix, editor-in-chief of the bimonthly now reaching more than 300,000 readers in over 50,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada.

Dr. Berkowitz opened The Center for Balanced Health in October 2003 based on his philosophies of combining the best of conventional diagnostic techniques for early disease detection in conjunction with complementary practices that encourage lifestyle modifications for weight loss. Dr. Berkowitz was formerly the Medical Director of the Atkins Center for Complimentary Medicine, which he joined in March 2003. He had been an associate of Dr. Robert C. Atkins since 1999.
Prior to joining The Atkins Center, Dr. Berkowitz was a member of the attending staff of the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital from 1998-2003. Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he is also a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a member of the American College of Physicians, the Medical Society of the State of New York, The Foundation for the Advancement of Innovative Medicine and the American College for Advancement in Medicine.
Dr. Berkowitz is the co-author of The Princeton Review Medical School Companion (Random House, 1996).
