DSM North America of Parsippany, NJ recently announced that it would serve as Host Company for the 33rd Annual Tribute to Women and Industry Awards Dinner. The company will donate $45,000 in cash and services to the YWCA of Central New Jersey’s TWIN (Tribute to Women and Industry) Program to help the organization provide career and mentoring services to the women it serves. This year’s event will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Hanover Marriott Hotel in Parsippany.
Hugh C. Welsh, President and General Counsel, who is serving as Honorary Chair of the Event, said that, “DSM has been part of the TWIN program for many years. We are honored to host this year’s TWIN Awards Dinner and are proud of our decades-long relationship with a program that supports and mentors women throughout central New Jersey, and helps to promote a more diverse and inclusive business environment.”
The TWIN program originated in New Jersey in 1975 and was introduced to Central New Jersey in 1979. Now a national and international awards program of the YWCA, TWIN annually recognizes outstanding businesswomen and their companies. Its mission is to honor women who have excelled in their fields and made significant contributions to industry in executive, managerial and professional roles, as well as to salute corporations whose policies and practices encourage high achievement by women and who promote equal advancement opportunities for women of diverse background. Through TWIN, the YWCA encourages women to consider and to prepare for a wider range of career opportunities and to help make significant contributions to the workplace. TWIN stimulates, in a positive way, an increased awareness of untapped talents of managerial and professional women in the corporate world. TWIN honorees share their involvement with young women entering industry, serving as career speakers, role models, and mentors to students and women of all ages.
The TWIN Program also sponsors the Center for Career Options, whichprovides lifespan career services for women, men and teens through individual and group counseling, workshops, seminars and career development programs. Its TWIN Management Forum(TMF) is a network of TWIN honorees that meets regularly to take part in a variety of programs on career and personal development. TMF attracts diverse and talented members who experience personal and professional enrichment through its networking programs. It also provides an opportunity to help other women achieve their educational and career goals through the TMF Scholarship Fund.
