Enova Oil Found to Increase Fat Burning, Suppress Appetite; New Study Shows Benefit as Weapon in War Against Obesity

DECATUR, Ill., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Researchers have found that Enova(R) Brand Cooking Oil increases the body's ability to burn fat and "may improve appetite control and energy balance." Enova Oil is produced by ADM Kao LLC, a joint venture between Archer Daniels Midland Company and the Kao Corporation of Japan.

In a study published in the May issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, health experts at Maastricht University in the Netherlands reported new results from tests conducted in which Enova Oil was substituted for regular vegetable oil in the diets of healthy women.

With the Enova Oil diet, there was a significant increase after only one day in the oxidation or burning of fat, and after the second day a significant decrease in the desire to eat. Researchers associate these unique benefits to the difference in composition between Enova Oil, comprised mostly of diglycerides, and regular vegetable oils, the majority of which is triglycerides.

"This independent study provides additional and compelling evidence that Enova Oil has the potential to be a very important weapon in the fight against obesity," Tony DeLio, Corporate Vice President of Marketing at ADM, said. "Not only is more Enova Oil burned directly as energy rather than being stored by the body as fat, but it also appears to suppress appetite."

Previous studies have shown that Enova Oil promoted weight and body fat loss, and "may be a useful adjunct therapy in managing obesity." Obesity has become one of the leading public health concerns in the United States with estimated costs of more than $l00 billion per year.

ADM Kao introduced Enova Oil earlier this year in Chicago and Atlanta markets, describing the cooking and salad oil as a "revolutionary new cooking oil clinically shown to help with the fight against body fat and obesity when incorporated into a sensible diet." It may be substituted for regular vegetable and olive oil in virtually any food application.

The product of more than 15 years of research, Enova Oils was first introduced in Japan in 1999. It has since become the best-selling bottled oil in the Japanese market and has also found its way into salad dressing and mayonnaise. ADM Kao first made the oil available in Atlanta and Chicago in January, but it can also be purchased directly at www.enovaoil.com .
