Exim Bank to Study Export Potential of Herbal Medicines

According to the Financial Times, the Export Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) has commissioned the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, (IIT-Delhi) to conduct a study on the export potential of the Ayurveda and Siddha systems of medicines, products and services. The study will focus on institutionalising Ayurveda/Siddha medicines and manufacturing and delivery practises. It will examine issues relating to lack of documentation of the traditional systems of medicine, difficulties in sourcing quality raw materials, supply chain management, deficient packing material and ban on imports of herbal medicines by countries including the US.
