Rifkin Headlines Expo East
Anti-GMO crusader and futurist Jeremy Rifkin will launch this year's Expo East with his keynote address. The founder and president of The Foundation on Economic Trends, Rifkin will offer insights on the benefits and perils of GMOs, a subject that many consider "the ultimate technology frontier."
Over the last 25 years, Rifkin has been praised for his ability to think big and help people shift perspectives. He is the author of 15 books on the impact of scientific and technological changes on the economy, the workforce, society and the environment. These include international bestsellers The Age of Access, The Biotech Century: Harnessing the Gene and Remaking the World and The End of Work.
Following his address, which is scheduled for 8:30-9:30 a.m., Friday, October 4, Rifkin will be available for a question-and-answer session and book signing.
Natural products raw ingredient suppliers of functional foods, personal care and pet care, as well as packaging and equipment suppliers, will kick off Expo East on Thursday morning.
Here, suppliers and buyers of raw materials will be able to make business-to-business contacts, size up the competition and see new products that are being distributed to manufacturers.
New to [email protected] this year is an arena dedicated to organic materials from suppliers and manufacturers all over the world. Attendees will learn about the new standards in this burgeoning market, which is growing at a rate of 20 percent annually.
