Finnish Researchers Report on New Vitamin D Hormone System

According to 'Helsingin Sanomat', researchers investigating Vitamin D at the University of Tampere in Finland have discovered a new hormone and its system.

Calcidol, a form of Vitamin D more correctly referred to as 'Hormone D' is formed in the liver and appears to have an effect on most, if not all tissues. The research suggests that it can prevent or delay an outbreak of prostate cancer. According to this study, the risk is particularly great for males who have been suffering from lack of vitamin D since they were young.
