Flavored Water Breakthrough at IFT 2002

Beverage has the same antioxidant capacity as a typical serving of fruit

Madera, CA - June 16, 2002 - Polyphenolics, a division of Canandaigua Wine Company, Inc. has an exciting line up of beverage prototypes and ingredients to be featured in its booth at IFT 2002.

The first beverage to be featured is a flavored water that contains grape seed extract and vitamin C and has less than 20 calories per 20 oz. serving. The second beverage is a 30 % juice pink grapefruit juice cocktail that also contains grape seed extract and vitamin C. 20 ounces of the flavored water and 12 ounces of the 30 % juice cocktail contain the same antioxidant capacity as a typical serving of fruit.

The flavored water is colored with our new NutraRed color and the 30% juice beverage is colored with our natural Carmine Substitute. Both contain the antioxidant MegaNatural Gold grape seed extract. MegaNatural Gold along with the MegaNatural Rubired grape juice extract, the fourth ingredient to be featured - have gained wide acceptance in dietary supplements for their potent antioxidant properties as they are synergistic with vitamins C and E, and will give double the antioxidant capacity when used in combination with either of these vitamins.

Polyphenolics extracts are produced in California wineries of the Canandaigua Wine Company from unfermented grapes. Polyphenolics (www.polyphenolics.com), a division of Canandaigua Wine Company, manufactures ingredients for the pharmaceutical, nutritional and beverage industries.
