Fluxome secures Japanese patent for PUFA development

Japanese patent office has granted Fluxome a new patent on the production technology of polyunsaturated fatty acids.

The Japanese patent office has granted Fluxome a new patent on the production technology of PUFA. With more than 50 patents, Fluxome keeps winning new territories with promising products under development.

"As Fluxome continues to expand, recently with Fluxome Resveratrol entry into the European market, the patent granted in Japan for Fluxome PUFA unveils promising opportunities in Asia," says Fluxome president and CEO, Ms. Angela Tsetsis. "We are excited about the new opportunities that will follow in Japan and we keep looking at Asia as a key market to our natural and premium ingredients.”

"This patent places Fluxome's technology and products in a strong position," says Bo Stenhuus, vice president of compliance at Fluxome. "Such a patent covers an exclusive production fermentation method using safe baker's yeast and sugar to produce high quality natural ingredients from eco-friendly sources.”

Fluxome PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acids) is the first patent in Japan, and currently a product under development to be a source of high quality, eco-friendly and safe vegetarian PUFA. Commonly known as omega-3 oils, PUFA is part of a growing market, and a market expected to be challenged by the nutrition needs of consumers and scarce natural fish supplies. Fluxome develops a solution to this challenge, producing reliable high quality ingredients from safe and renewable sources.
