PORTLAND, Ore.— On Monday, May 6, positive eating and positive driving will collide when Gardenburger Authentic Foods Company launches its revamped Web site,, kicking off a nationwide contest to win an earth-friendly Honda Civic Hybrid. The winner of the lightweight, fuel-efficient Honda Civic Hybrid will be selected at random on Labor Day 2002.

In addition to the contest, the new and improved Web site now includes a fun, five-question Karma Quiz as well as an opportunity to donate food to the hungry by way of one of Gardenburger’s charitable partners, the Hunger Site. The Web site also contains product information, recipes, consumer testimonials, a more comprehensive company page, and a “Universe” section dedicated to highlighting causes supported by Gardenburger.

Put your money where your mouth is

The completely redesigned Web site better reflects Gardenburger’s core belief that eating meatless is better. “Americans spend nearly 30 percent* of their annual income on food and transportation. Both of these necessities are heavily fossil-fuel dependent,” said Scott Wallace, CEO of Gardenburger. “It is important for consumers to realize that we not only impact our environment by choosing what we drive, but also by choosing what we eat. When selecting purchases with care, one person can truly make a difference.” Part of the Gardenburger mission is to provide consumers with products that help support a healthy planet.
