Global Health Trax launches KidsLac probiotic

KidsLac features five unique strains of friendly bacteria, blended to help support kids’ natural defense systems and assist in the reduction of occasional digestive upset.

Kids encounter all sorts of threats to their immune systems every day. Global Health Trax, Inc. can help your child win that ongoing battle, thanks to the power of probiotics.

KidsLac, a probiotic for children, is now available from GHT, an industry leader in nutritional supplements. KidsLac features five unique strains of friendly bacteria—specifically selected and blended to help support kids’ natural defense systems and assist in the reduction of occasional digestive upset.

“We had KidsLac in the product development stage for nearly 18 months for a very good reason—we wanted to make it as effective as possible in helping kids stay healthy when their immune system is being challenged,” says Jim Rex, President and CEO of GHT. “We’re known worldwide for our ThreeLac probiotic formulation, and it made perfect sense to build on our industry-leading expertise by developing and introducing a probiotic for kids.”

One of the weapons in the KidsLac probiotic arsenal is the DDS-1 strain of Lactobacillus acidophilus, considered to be one of the most studied, proven and reliable strains of probiotics in the world. Discovered in the late 1950s, the DDS-1 strain of L. acidophilus stimulates the immune system, initiates the colonization of “good” bacteria and helps to control pH levels, among other benefits.

KidsLac also contains four other potent strains of friendly bacteria. Bifidobacterium bifidum is associated with maintaining intestinal flora and healthy helping with digestion. Bifidobacterium infantis, the main bacteria found in breast-fed infants, may reduce the effects of occasional diarrhea. Bifidobacterium lactis supports the immune system. Bifidobacterium longum helps to metabolize a wider range of carbohydrates, blocks the growth of harmful bacteria and boosts the immune system.

“Because of their eating habits, their constant proximity to sick classmates at school and the occasional antibiotics prescribed by doctors, kids’ digestive tracts are truly a battleground for good-versus-bad bacteria,” notes Rex. “KidsLac can help them maintain that balance of friendly flora, and keep their immunity systems strong.”

KidsLac has a “sour apple” flavor that kids love, and comes in an easy-to-use stick pack format. GHT, based in Vista, Calif., is currently taking orders for and shipping KidsLac.

“We’re very excited to start shipping the KidsLac product,” says Shanna Denfeld, GHT’s vice president of product development. “Initial response has been tremendous, and we’ve already received several pre-orders from our customers.
