Gnosis has achieved Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certification for its manufacturing operations Gnosis Bioresearch Srl located in Pisticci (Matera), Italy. The plant has been successfully inspected by an internationally recognized Institute attesting that the highest safety standards in production of components for food products are accomplished to ensure safety in the food chain.
According to FDA definition HACCP is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product.
The certification demonstrates Gnosis’ commitment to food safety, establishing that the company has realized an effective safety plan to identify and analyze the potential risks and critical points in the entire production chain.
While HACCP is a mandatory program for some food categories in the US such as meat, seafood and juice, Gnosis implements the program on a voluntary basis. A self-monitoring management system to review and implement every step and procedure involved has been realized and every employee is a part of the long-term success of HACCP protocol; taking measurements, critically monitoring methods and processes and taking proper corrective actions when a deviation occurs.
This quality certification is in line with the upcoming regulatory trends required by the latest functional food applications and gives Gnosis a leading position also in this developing area.
On a global level the production requirements of functional foods and their marketing is regulated differently. With this certification, Gnosis’ worldwide customers now have an international quality standard acknowledged by Regulatory Health Authorities which should lend additional confidence in using Gnosis’ products to improve the performance of finished goods.
In addition to the GMP and HACCP, Gnosis Bioresearch Srl is completing projects for Halal and Kosher certification.
