A lawsuit against six fish oil manufacturers and two retailers for alleged labeling violations of the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, also known as Proposition 65, was filed earlier this month in San Francisco. It alleges several fish oil products sold in California failed to include label warnings for levels of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyl compounds) found in the products. GOED asserts the fish oil supplement market has been validated through multiple third-party reviews by industry watchdogs and that the fish oil industry is among the highest quality and most transparent of all consumer products.
