Mr. Leduc stated that Benolea is Frutarom’s latest branded ingredient clinically proven to support a beneficial blood pressure range while also effective as a preventative against the metabolic syndrome. Benolea is part of the EFLA® line of botanical extracts, a line which was acquired when Frutarom purchased Emil Flachsmann in 2003. Alina is a patented, new plant source of omega 3-fatty acids from Salvia seed, derived through a natural extraction process. Mr. Leduc pointed out that Salvia seed contains more than 50 percent Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA) which belongs to the group of polyunsaturated fatty acids known as PUFAs. “The health benefits of ALA are well documented,” he said, adding that these benefits include a reduction in stroke risk.
