Great Eastern Sun’s overall organic miso sales are up 14 percent over 2010 and they’ve been growing at that same rate over the last five years. This steady growth is evidence that miso is gaining popularity among U.S. consumers and they are now ready for Miso Sip™.
In addition to the steady sales over the years, Great Eastern Sun’s Miso Master® brand saw a 50 percent spike in sales in the second quarter of this year. The company is partially attributing this spike to the accident at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in March, 2011. Many miso consumers are aware that miso is a healing food to counteract the effect of radiation exposure. Animal survival in research studies showed significantly increased survival when miso was administered, especially long-term fermented miso.
