Grocery manufacturers move toward healthier foods

The Grocery Manufacturers Association has announced a new initiative to reduce sugar, salt and fat in a wide range of products. The move comes in response to consumer demand and a new White House initiative sponsored by First Lady Michelle Obama.

The Let's Move! Program, places an emphasis on guidelines for healthy foods in schools, and Obama has urged manufacturers to reformulate foods to make them healthier for children. The GMA has launched a web site to highlight the efforts of its member companies in reformulating their products. Read more on the story here.
