New Soluble Form Provides Bone Health Advantage for Beverage Formulators
GOLDEN, CO 2004 –GTC Nutrition LLC recently introduced a prebiotic mineral formulation called CalciLife and has now expanded their offerings to include a soluble form of the plant-derived calcium ingredient for use in a wider selection of foods and beverages.
CalciLife SGC, the new soluble form, will not only provide an effective calcium source for beverages, it will present the same favorable formulation advantages as the original CalciLife product, which has a minimal phosphorous content. CalciLife offers the combined benefits of a bioactive calcium source with a prebiotic fiber scientifically proven to substantially increase calcium absorption. The plant source of calcium is gathered from the Atlantic coast of Ireland and is also comprised of magnesium, iron and a variety of trace minerals including, copper and boron.
“Adding calcium to everyday foods is a successful trend welcomed by consumers. However, just adding calcium may not provide the total product answer to formulating for health, “ explains Linda Douglas, PhD, RD, Manager of Scientific Affairs for GTC, “Part of the challenge is choosing a calcium ingredient that offers enhanced absorption without negatively impacting taste and texture. GTC is proud to offer CalciLife because it answers these formulation challenges effectively.”
With the new soluble form available, the benefits of CalciLife can be added to an even broader array of formulations, including ice cream, shakes, and beverages. When formulating for bone health, CalciLife provides a wealth of benefits, including a boost in calcium absorption, increased magnesium and soy isoflavone absorption, and improved immune function.
