Senator Tom Harkin, the Democratic Candidate for United States Senator from Iowa, recently submitted his responses to a candidate questionnaire and signed a pledge to fully implement the law, the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act. He unequivocally supports all efforts to protect and expand access to Complementary Healthcare (CAM) services. The complete Questionnaire and signed pledge are available for viewing and downloading from our website, www.nhaiowa.org.
Representative Greg Ganske, the Republican Candidate for United States Senator from Iowa, has failed to answer the questionnaire or sign the pledge. A subsequent letter was sent to Mr. Ganske’s campaign inviting him to respond and to answer two important issues for Iowans.
- Iowans pay sales tax on dietary supplement purchases. Should this be abolished?
- The Iowa Republican Party states in its platform “We believe healthcare is a privilege and not a right.” NHA Iowa asked Mr. Ganske if he agrees with his own party’s platform.
All responses received will be posted immediately on our website and announced. The complete questionnaire, pledge and letters are available for viewing and downloading. If you do not have access to the Internet, please call our office and leave a fax number. The documents will be faxed to you.
