Event in Sydney, Australia attracts 60 decision-makers from
around the world for unique “case study” discussion format
SYDNEY, Australia and PROVIDENCE, RI (November 24, 2003) – Health Strategy Consulting (HSC), a research, strategic development/implementation and reporting firm for nutrition, food and pharmaceutical companies, held its first annual Health Strategy Network Pan-Pacific Executive Conference in Sydney, Australia on November 13-15, 2003. Nearly 60 strategic decision makers from around the world attended the event designed for robust content discussion of real business issues, industry networking and unequalled knowledge sharing through innovative use of global market data and insights, and pertinent case study group discussions.
Health Strategy Consulting established the Health Strategy Network in late 2002 to create a global conference series for executives in and around the nutrition industry, focusing on leveraging real life business cases with great networking opportunities. The Australian event, sponsored by Blackmores Ltd., Robert Forbes and Associates, and BASF, featured case discussions on Clover/Nu-Mega, Natrol, VRI Biomedical, and Larex.
Christopher Dean, chairman of TP Health, stated, “I found the whole style of this conference and the excellent preparation of the case studies a refreshing change from the usual diet of thin presentations and uninvolved spectators. This conference excelled for the quality of the participants – key commercial players who are engaged in the daily thrust of serious business management and so able to make commercially intelligent decisions. The focus was on real business decisions that we could all relate to. It was a tonic – a value tonic.”
“I am very conscious of the fact that we’re doing something very different with this conference series,” notes Tom Clough, managing director of HSC. “There are several components required to make these conferences successful and our team works hard to make it happen. Our formula is simple – to create an environment for executives to share and learn. The success of the event is dependent upon our ability to write interesting cases with a compelling story, recruit accomplished business leaders, and facilitate engaging discussions.”
The value of the event to the participants was demonstrated in many ways. “The format sure beats sitting in an audience listening to speakers talk about the “latest trends,” said Anthony Lawler, CEO of Meracol. “The free-flowing discussions were very informative and I picked up on a bunch of trends just by listening to people.” For some, the networking was particularly helpful, as Johan Du Toit, CEO of MediHerb related, “I enjoyed meeting several strategically significant people. The format for the conference is terrific, and I came away with numerous key points to take forward that were generated during the health discussion and ideas session.”
In addition to the feedback from the attendees, the companies that submitted to case studies also found great value in the conference. Per Bo Nickoloff, the CEO of Larex, “I attend numerous meetings in the food, supplement and personal care industries and none of them come even close to this conference. The team does an excellent job in preparing and Tom Clough really knows how to facilitate a group through complex issues.”
Health Strategy Consulting has strategically identified a need to have four Executive Conferences each year that circle the globe. The next conference will focus on North America and will take place in Cancun in February 19-21, 2004, and will be followed by a conference in Tokyo on May 20-22, 2004.
