(SAN JOSE, CA) October 12, 2005 – The Healthy Harvest Show, the National Nutritional Foods Association-West (NNFA-West) trade show held at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, CA, September 30 to October 2 featured 200 exhibitors and attracted over 300 retailer and industry member attendees, which more than tripled the attendance from the 2004 NNFA-West show according to Terri Curry-McSweeney, president of TLC Trade Show Productions, who produced the show for the first time on behalf of NNFA-West.
The Healthy Harvest Show was sponsored by Organic Products Retailer and Vitamin Retailer magazines, leading business publications for the natural and organic products industry. The show was co-sponsored by NNFA-West the regional trade association representing natural products industry members located in California, Hawaii, Nevada and Arizona. The “trade-only” show was open to all retailers of natural and/or organic products.
“One of our main goals was to increase the diversity of the product selection on the trade show floor, including more food products and we feel it was mission accomplished,” said Curry-McSweeney.
The show included 17 seminars featuring leading industry experts such as David Seckman, executive director and CEO of the NNFA, Danny Wells, Danny Wells & Associates, Dr. Stephen Holt, scientific advisor for Nature’s Benefit, and Dr. Karlene Karst, director of education, diet and nutrition for Nature’s Way.
The Saturday night gala Hawaiian luau dinner attracted over 300 people. The Hawaiian Luau was sponsored by Solgar and Maitake Products, along with Vitamin Retailer magazine.
“This is the first year the NNFA-West has held its trade show in San Jose,” said Dot Boyd, executive director of NNFA-West. “The dramatic increase in retailer attendance from last year shows how much our members support the organization.”
"Retailers were receptive,” said Pierce Sioussat of Bioforce USA. “The show was a great opportunity to present our new products.”
The Healthy Harvest Show also offered over $40,000 in retailer raffle prizes. Sheri Didrickson of Sheri's Sonshine Nutrition Center in Lodi, CA, won the grand prize of a cable television advertising campaign from the Platinum Television Group; Laura McFarland of Lindberg Nutrition in Torrance, CA, won 10 EZcart basket carts from VersaCart Systems; Addison Hall of Trouvalles in Lafayette, CA, won a $3,000 bulk food merchandiser from Trade Systems/Newleaf Designs. In addition, New Leaf Natural Foods of Boulder Creek, CA, won a two-hour retailing consultation with Danny Wells. Ten retailers also won on-line Herbal Information Courses from the American Botanical Council, plus several other retailers won valuable raffle prizes that were offered by exhibitors.
"We felt management did an outstanding job on producing this show,” said Ken Seguine of Ayurceutics. “They promoted aggressively, and the show ran perfectly.”
