LOS ANGELES, May 26, 2004 -- Herbalife (www.herbalife.com), the leading company for science-based weight loss and nutrition, today was awarded its first ever DSA Annual Award at the Direct Selling Association's Awards Banquet on May 18 in New Orleans. Herbalife won the 'Success Award' for its quality customer service in its call center activities and its investment in building a bright future for the industry. This follows Herbalife's 2003 BenchMark Portal Award for Customer-Driven quality from Purdue University. Herbalife's ShapeWorks(TM) program was also a finalist for the 'Education for Life Award', which honors companies that have invested in sales force education and training programs to build individuals' life skills.
"Herbalife is thrilled to receive this kind of recognition, and we are proud of our leadership position within the industry," said Michael O. Johnson, CEO of Herbalife. "Herbalife has always maintained a focus on providing the best products and service for our customers. At the same time, we are committed to empowering our sales force while making a positive impact in their lives; in fact, we feel these two goals are linked together."
The DSA Awards honor companies who foster "connections" within the field sales force and their communities. The 'Success Award' recognizes programs that serve as models that set a high standard of excellence, have data to validate success and have the potential to be adapted, in whole or part, for use by other companies. The 'Education for Life Award' honors programs that go beyond sales and training to truly invest people with life skills.
"The Herbalife Call Center is a vital business-to-business interface between our distributors and Herbalife, reinforcing our mission of 'delivering the total distributor experience at every touch point and setting the standards for call center excellence'," notes Michele Crocker, vice president, Herbalife Distributor Services.
Herbalife's ShapeWorks(TM) is a personalized and comprehensive approach to weight loss. The program is the first to offer consumers a free ShapeScan(TM), which shows their lean body mass, how many calories they burn at rest, target weight and recommends their personalized protein needs for building and maintaining lean muscle mass, enabling them to personalize their protein consumption based on individual needs.
The Direct Selling Association (http://www.dsa.org/index.cfm) is the national trade association of the leading firms that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers. More than 150 companies are members of the association, including many well-known brand names. The Association's mission is "To protect, serve and promote the effectiveness of member companies and the independent business people they represent. To ensure that the marketing by member companies of products and/or the direct sales opportunity is conducted with the highest level of business ethics and service to consumers."
