Natural Product Advertising Regulation To Be Discussed
SALT LAKE CITY, October 5, 2004 Jeff Hilton, president and partner of Integrated Marketing Group (IMG), a marketing and branding agency servicing a national and international clientele, will speak with Rich Cleland, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) assistant director, at the Natural Products Expo East tradeshow and conference, October 14-17, 2004, at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. Hilton and Cleland will present "What Every Marketer Should Know About FTC Compliance" Friday, October 15, 2004, from 1:00 p.m. in room 152A.
"The FTC has escalated its level of activity in regulating what it deems 'false and misleading' advertising within the natural products industry. Every manufacturer, supplier and retailer should be knowledgeable about these guidelines and incorporate them into their messaging strategies," states Hilton. "Our joint presentation will address ways to achieve hard-hitting advertising communications, without using false and misleading messages, from both the marketing and regulatory perspective."

Cleland currently serves as assistant director of the FTC¹s Division of Advertising Practices.
