Illinois Governors Workforce Training Program Announcement Held at NOW Foods

Bloomingdale, IL (March 1, 2007) - An Illinois state workforce training grant which will help more than 2,150 individuals through the University of Illinois’ Business and Industry Services Coalition of Manufacturers was announced today at the NOW Foods manufacturing facility in Bloomingdale, IL. The $900,000 grant, which will provide training and consulting services to upgrade skills within the manufacturing industry, is part of Opportunity Returns, Governor Rod Blagojevich’s proactive economic development strategy.

Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Viability Director Jack Lavin made the announcement, noting that the program will help create “skilled workers who have benefits and can earn a living wage to support their families.” He further noted that “job training is helping statewide companies increase productivity, reduce costs and enhance competitiveness in today’s ultra-competitive global economy.”
