Ito En Launches Two Packages of Supplements made with 7 Different Vegetables and Containing Folic Acid and Iron

On 23 October 2008, Ito En Ltd. will launch, under their Maison Natural supplement brand, “Maison Natural Kokusan Yasai + Yosan & Tetsu (Domestically Grown Vegetables + Folic Acid & Iron)” tablet-form supplements. The supplements are made using seven different vegetables: spinach, komatsuna (Brassica rapa var. perviridis), greater burdock (Arctium lappa), aya murasaki imo (Aya-type purple sweet potato), pumpkin, carrot, and lotus root. The product is an FNFC made from dried vegetables with the addition of folic acid, which helps in the formation of red blood cells and promotes the normal growth of fetuses, and iron, which is required in the formation of red blood cells. The recommended daily dosage of five tablets contains 200 μg of folic acid and 2.25 mg of iron. The supplement comes in two types of package: JPY 1,260/150 tablets (approximately a one month’s supply) or JPY 500/35 tablets (approximately a one week’s supply).
