Los Angeles, CA, April 20, 2005 â Jarrow Formulas was the Los Angeles Organizer for The International CoenzymeQ10 Association Fourth World Conference held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel located in Beverly Hills April 14 â 17, 2005.
The meeting presented the latest findings on bioenergetic and antioxidant properties of CoQ10, latest clinical findings in heart failure, as well other biomedical roles and clinical implications. Among the issues that were presented at the meeting were the importance of CoQ10 in endothelial function, its relationships with statins and left ventricle diastolic function, and its newly described role in improving the clinical outcome of patients when combined with mild hypothermia after cardiac arrest.
While the bulk of CoQ10 knowledge involves its antioxidant and bioenergetic properties, the Los Angeles conference also presented new findings on the non-mitochondrial electron transport functions of CoQ10 and insights into gene expression effects. Other advances have been made in the areas of neuromuscular and neurodegenerative diseases, fertility, dermatology and mechanisms of aging.
The Fourth World Co-Q10 Conference returned to the United States after nearly eight years. The last U.S. conference was held in Boston in 1998 and thereafter in Frankfurt and London. The meeting gathers renowned scientists worldwide involved in the basic, as well as medical aspects of CoQ10 research. Biologists, biochemists, cardiologists, neurologists, dermatologists and pharmacists attended. Many of the sessions were devoted to scientific analysis of data and its impact on everyday life.
