Keith Barnes to Retire; Proliant Inc. Announces New Corporate Structure

AMES, IOWA and ANKENY, IOWA - (November 10, 2003) – Proliant Inc., a global leader in applied protein sciences for food, health, nutrition, and biologicals, announces with congratulations the retirement of Keith A. Barnes, President and CEO, effective December 31, 2003. Mr. Barnes has been with Proliant for 13 years and will remain with the organization in a consultant role.

“During his tenure, Keith’s significant contributions facilitated the substantial growth of our Proliant organization. I am so pleased to have worked with Keith during this time to develop our business interests,” states Nixon Lauridsen, chairman.

Additionally, to create more focus throughout the Proliant organization, and due to Proliant’s expansion under Keith Barnes’ leadership, the four divisions of Proliant will be separated into individual entities. Therefore, the following four companies have been created, and four individuals have been named as President and CEO of their respective companies:

  • Proliant Meat Ingredients – Mr. Chia-Wei Chang
  • Proliant Biologicals – Mr. Stephen Welch
  • Proliant Health Ingredients – Dr. Eric Weaver

While Proliant is experiencing exciting changes with the creation of these four companies, one thing that will not change is the company’s commitment of service to customers. Quality protein products and superior customer support will continue to be the hallmark of Proliant’s customer partnerships around the world.

The Proliant companies manufacture and market protein products for the food, nutrition, human health, nutraceutical, diagnostic, life science research, biopharmaceutical and veterinary vaccine industries around the world. For more information, visit the website at or call 515-296-7100.
