Kemps has modeled its newest flavored milk on a classic summer treat: a root beer float.

Root Beer Milk recently joined St. Paul-based Kemps’ stable of milk flavors such as chocolate, strawberry, and banana.

While Kemps has sold the root beer flavored milk at special events, it has never been sold in a half-gallon size for retail. The flavor is currently in rotation for the summer season, but if it sells well, it could become a permanent flavor, according to Rachel Kyllo, a Kemp’s spokeswoman.

Kemps, which is in the process of being sold to Dairy Farmers of America, makes milk, ice cream, yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese and other dairy products under a variety of brand names.
