Two of BioGaia´s customers that planned product launches during the last quarter of 2004 have postponed these launches until the first half-year 2005. BioGaia´s goal to reach profitability before the end of 2004 will, therefore, not be achieved.
The delays concern the French beverage company which will launch drinks with BioGaia´s patented screw cap LifeTopTM Cap in France as well as the Chinese dairy which will launch a milk drink with LifeTopTM Straw in China. In both cases the delays are due to the customer's concept development and other launch preparations that have taken longer than expected. Both customers expect that launch will take place during the first half-year 2005.
"It is regrettable that these launches are delayed but it is important for us and our customers that the concept is developed to completion before launch so that our customers, and thereby BioGaia, have the maximum chances of success in the market" says Peter Rothschild MD BioGaia.
The interim report for the third quarter will be published as earlier announced on 29th October 2004.
