Malaysian Natural Products Market Shows Promise

In a report on Bernama (, Malaysian Minister of Rural Development Datuk Azmi Khalid said the market for natural and herbal products could triple to RM15 if the industry commercialized products with potential (such as those from the Malaysian Research and Development Institute) and established a good marketing network and cohesive industry.

Speaking after officiating at Asia Pacific Natural Products Expo (NATPRO) 2003, he indicated the present market size was RM2 billion for herbal remedies, RM1.6 billion for perfumes and flavours and RM1 billion for pharmaceutical/nutraceuticals.
