Natural and Organic Products Keep Canadians on top of Their Game

Manufacturers and distributors to the natural and organics industry are confident that despite the tough economic times, Canadians will continue to seek access and choice in the products and services that promote health and well-being. They’ll be gathering for the largest event in western Canada for the industry, Expo West, Apr. 1-5,

Jeffrey McHarg of Nature's Way of Canada, says today’s health-conscious consumers have made a lifestyle choice and will not jeopardize their health.

“In a struggling economy associated with a decline in employment, consumers put their health first in order to remain gainfully employed and to continue to support their family,” he says.

Nature’s Way of Canada is just one of the over 450 exhibiting companies displaying the newest products in natural and organic food and beverage, natural cosmetics, vitamins and minerals, herbal supplements, traditional medicines, homeopathics, sports nutrition and natural and organic clothing and home furnishings.

Just some of the new products that will keep Canadians on top of their game include:

Natural and Organic Foods & Beverages: whole grain cereal that delivers 5g of fibre, 6g of protein and 0.7 grams of Omega-3s (Nature’s Path); snack bars that combine eight servings of organic vegetables and fruit in a moist, tasty takeaway (ReBAR); sparkling beverages with the healing powers of hibiscus (OOBA); cookies as good for children as they are for the planet (Eco-Planet Organic Cookies); and, healthy chocolate that delivers 4,000 ORAC antioxidants (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) to boost immunity and energy levels (Dr. Vie).

Expo West is organized by the Canadian Health Food Association, the largest trade association in the country for the natural and organic products industry. A trade-only event, Expo West takes place at the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre,, and offers an educational conference (Apr. 1-3) and trade show (Apr. 4-5). CHFA is celebrating 45 years this year.
