Naturally Boulder Goes to Europe

Manufacturers and marketers of natural and organic products in the Boulder/Denver area are banding together under the Naturally Boulder banner at a leading international trade show.

Boulder, CO – (February 6, 2007) – Naturally Boulder is taking its show on the road and going to London, England, to participate in a leading European trade show, Natural & Organic Products Europe, held April 15-16, 2007.

Compass Natural, LLC, a Boulder-based full-service consulting and marketing agency serving organic, natural and green business, is leading the trade mission with the support of Naturally Boulder, the City of Boulder, and the Colorado Department of Agriculture. The trade mission features a Naturally Boulder mini-pavilion in the U.S. pavilion, meetings with key U.K. and European buyers and distributors, a tour of London natural foods stores, and industry receptions.

Sitting at the epicenter of the U.S. natural and organic products market, the Boulder area has the largest concentration of natural and organic businesses in the country. There are more than 150 companies in natural and organic products active in the region—including industry leaders Celestial Seasonings, Horizon Organic Dairy, WhiteWave Foods, maker of Silk soymilk, and Wild Oats Markets—contributing an estimated $4 billion in annual revenues to the Colorado economy. With a mission to help grow these businesses in the region, the international trade mission serves to assist local entrepreneurs in reaching a broader market for their natural and organic products and services.

“Boulder is known throughout the world as a center of organic and natural products. Companies exhibiting under the Naturally Boulder banner are taking advantage of that branding strength,” says Steve Hoffman, president of Compass Natural.

The U.K. and European markets for natural and organic products are growing by 20-30% annually, according to The Organic Market Report 2006, released by Britain's largest certification body, the Soil Association. The low trading value of the dollar means U.S. products are a better value in overseas markets. Additionally, Whole Foods Market opens its first 75,000 sq. ft. store in London in 2007, leading a new era in European natural and organic products retailing.
