Navitas Naturals expands, doubles production capacity

Superfood company is doubling production capacity and adding two new production lines to expand offerings and capabilities.

Navitas Naturals is at the intersection of several hot trends including organic food, raw food, international cuisine, snacks, smoothies, sports nutrition and gluten-free foods. As it approaches its 10-year anniversary, the superfood company’s sales are up more than 70 percent over last year. The Novato, Calif.-based company has acquired buildings and is in the process of expanding all operations.

The company owners, Zach Adelman and Wesley Crain, purchased the commercial space that makes up the new Navitas Naturals campus at 9 & 15 Pamaron Way in Bel Marin Keys, Novato. The acquisition increases their space from 13,500 square feet to 23,000, and they will gradually grow into the newly acquired space over time. The expansion allows Navitas Naturals to double production capacity, and they’re adding two new production lines to expand their offerings and capabilities.

Another new feature added during the expansion is the kitchen studio, where the company has already professionally produced their own recipe videos, product photos and other digital marketing assets to help inform customers about the many health benefits and culinary wonders of superfoods.

Navitas Naturals now has over 50 employees and is hiring for several new positions, including those in production, customer service, sales, marketing, shipping and administration. They have already added six staff in 2012, and they plan to hire six more employees before the end of the year.

Founded in 2003 by Novato resident Zach Adelman, Navitas Naturals imports organic foods from around the world to their warehouse and production facility in Novato. They package their superfoods and sell them to thousands of stores in the U.S. and export to several nations including Canada, Norway, United Kingdom and China. A growing portion of their business is internet sales, including their website and

“Our Novato location is convenient for food import commerce,” says CEO and founder Zach Adelman. “It’s close to the transit benefits of US 101 Redwood Highway, and our facility is in close proximity to the shipping port in Oakland where many of our products are landed in shipping containers from around the world.”

The fast-growing superfood company has many devoted customer bases including: organic shoppers; foodies; people with food sensitivities; raw foodists; international cuisine fans; pro and endurance athletes; everyday sports warriors; health-conscious moms; dieticians; baby boomers; and people that need nutritious food to fuel their active lifestyles. What these audiences have in common is a desire for nutrient-dense whole foods and Navitas provides them with the most popular organic superfoods including raw cacao, chia seeds, maca, goji berries, acai, hemp seeds, pomegranate powder, goldenberries and many more.

Several appearances on The Dr. Oz Show and articles in the press including the Wall Street Journal over the past year have also provided a high-profile platform for Navitas to spread the news about the benefits of their health food products to a broader mainstream audience.
