MONTREAL, April 9 - Neptune Technologies & Bioressources Inc. is partnering with Laboratoire LALCO, a major Quebec player in the nutraceutical market.
On March 24, 2003, Neptune Technologies & Bioressources Inc. signed a distribution agreement according to which Laboratoire LALCO would offer Quebec consumers products such as Neptune Krill Oil(TM) (NKO(TM)) and Neptune LyO- Krill(TM) (NLK(TM)) under the brand name PurKrill(TM) through more than 1,500 Quebec retailers, including The Jean Coutu Group, Pharmaprix, Uniprix, Familiprix, Brunet, Essaim and others.
This agreement allows Neptune to sell an initial 25,000 bottles of NKO(TM) and 25,000 bottles of NLK(TM) to LALCO, and makes provisions for a promotional program based on a budget of more than half a million dollars, including television, radio and print media exposure.
"The many obvious benefits of each of these products are supported by clinical studies and/or scientific reports. The rigorous approach taken by Neptune and the potential market demand for these revolutionary products favourably influenced our organization in its decision making," said Jean- Pierre Veilleux, President and owner of Laboratoire LALCO. "Don't forget that Laboratoire LALCO is one of the major distributors of natural products in Canada. Our range of products includes more than 150 items and we serve more than 1,500 retail outlets. Products manufactured by Neptune Technologies & Bioressources Inc. will gain tremendous success with us because they will satisfy every aspect of our many clients' expectations," he added.
"Two years ago, we provided Jean-Pierre Veilleux with samples of our products. He expressed immediate interest. It was a first encouraging sign at the time," said Mr. Henri Harland, President and CEO of Neptune Technologies & Bioressources Inc. "Today, this accomplishment represents a new and critical phase of our development. We are currently in a marketing phase with Neptune and our products are now being offered to the Quebec audience. Consumers have recently shown a lot of interest 'Who distributes your products?', 'Where can I buy them?', 'When will they be available in stores?' Now, we are there...!
Neptune has made its first significant sales in Quebec and the consumers can now enjoy the benefits of our products, as many already have. We are extremely proud of the fact that we have always adopted a very rigorous approach. That is also why we are confident about the results. Our claims regarding our products' benefits are supported by scientific data and stringent clinical studies conducted by independent health-care professionals. The benefits are real and have now been proven."
"In addition, Laboratoire LALCO is a strategic partner. Its important role, dynamic qualities, positive energy, rigorous standards and willingness, like ours, to satisfy Health Canada's new standards, combined with a strong promotional action plan and upheld by a sizeable budget, are key ingredients for the successful marketing of our products," said Mr. Harland.
"Congratulations to the entire Laboratoire LALCO and Neptune team for taking these first steps," added Mr. Harland.
