New Clinical Trial Demonstrates Effectiveness of SierraSil, Nutraceutical Mineral Complex for Osteoarthritis

Vancouver, B.C. — The just-released results of a new clinical trial offers hope for the possibility of fast, effective symptom relief to millions suffering from Osteoarthritis, a widespread condition affecting over 26 million people. The study’s report points to the speed and effectiveness of SierraSil®, a unique nutraceutical mineral complex from Sierra Mountain Minerals, Inc. The trial’s findings have been recently published exclusively in the international Journal of Inflammation, a peer-reviewed journal focusing on inflammatory conditions.

The trial’s objective was to assess the safety and efficacy of a specific mineral supplement, SierraSil, in providing symptomatic relief to patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. It concluded that SierraSil achieved excellent results for fast and effective treatment. In contrast to placebo, participants reported significant improvement after just one week with SierraSil, with that improvement increasing over time.

Mark Miller, Ph.D., and Professor of Cardiovascular Sciences and Pediatrics at Albany Medical College (NY), supervised the study and was instrumental in the in-depth analysis of its data. “SierraSil,” said Miller, “may offer exciting new approaches to limiting the joint destruction and lack of mobility associated with arthritis.”

Over 100 people participated in the double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, multi-centered clinical trial. The study was reviewed and approved by an independent ethics committee at K.J. Somaiya Medical College & Hospital in India, according to the study’s primary investigators, Dr. V. Raut, Dr. J. Gala, Dr. N. Khandelwal and Dr. R. Dhumale.

The impressive performance of SierraSil also captured the attention of key medical community members known for their involvement with joint, bone and cardiovascular research, treatment options and palliative patient care.

“SierraSil is one of the few natural products to have passed rigorous scientific research with flying colors,” observed Dr. Shari Lieberman, Ph.D., CNS, FACN, and a recipient of the 2003 NNFA Practitioner of the Year Award and author of numerous books on health and nutrition. “What is most impressive are the results from this recent double-blind, placebo-controlled study demonstrating that it is safe and effective for significantly decreasing pain and inflammation in patients with arthritis.* This research serves as an exemplary model for the dietary supplement industry, this is what more companies should be doing to truly document that their product is both safe and effective,” said Lieberman.

Widely referred to as "Nature's Ultimate Mineral," SierraSil is a powerful, fast-acting, uniquely balanced blend of numerous naturally occurring macro and trace minerals. Found only in the high Sierra Mountains, SierraSil is a distinct mineral compound clinically shown to support joint mobility and flexibility.*

The SierraSil product for this study was provided by Sierra Mountain Minerals, Inc., the Vancouver-based nutraceutical company that produces and markets the product. Michael Bentley, the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, is more than pleased with this latest testament to the effectiveness of SierraSil. “We know from past trials, patient testimonials and reports from physicians that SierraSil improves joint mobility and flexibility,”* said Bentley. “Now, we see how important it can be as a support to those suffering from the pain of osteoarthritis.”*
