Launching with its premier edition this fall, remedies is the latest magazine to join the growing Taste for Life family of monthly in-store publications. Offering monthly columns on herbal healing, homeopathic medicine, health and beauty, and sports nutrition, remedies will focus on insightful, authoritative, cutting-edge editorial dedicated to the science and promise of dietary supplements.
“The remedies launch is just one example of the kind of growth Taste for Life continues to enjoy in the natural products industry,” says founding publisher and CEO T. James Connell. “For some time, we’ve recognized the need for an in-store magazine that focuses primarily on supplements."
Gormley Heads Editorial
Former longtime Better Nutrition Editor in Chief, James J. Gormley heads the remedies editorial team. “remedies offers the kind of supplement science focus that the industry needs in a consumer magazine but has been without—until now,” he says. “I’m excited to work with so many quality publishing professionals to provide the best information available about supplements.”
Co-author of the User’s Guide to Detoxification, Health Benefits of Phosphatidylserine, User’s Guide to Brain-Boosting Supplements, and author of DHA, A Good Fat, Gormley is the Senior Policy Advisor to Citizens for Health (www.citizens.org) and a Board Member of the Natural Health Research Institute. In addition, Gormley recently served on the Council for Responsible Nutrition Delegation to Codex Alimentarius, and currently acts as the Scientific & Regulatory Liaison for Nutrition 21, a nutritional bioscience company. “James brings passionate, dedicated support for American consumers’ access to information,” says Associate Publisher/Editorial Director Roon Frost.
remedies also features an editorial advisory board with top experts in dietary supplements and nutrition that includes Jeffrey Blumberg, PhD, FACN, CNS, director of the Antioxidants Research Laboratory at Tufts University; Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of the American Botanical Council; and research geochemist C. Leigh Broadhurst, PhD.
Mucci and Johnston Join Sales
Bob Mucci has joined both Taste for Life and remedies ad sales teams as Eastern Advertising Manager. Since 2003, he served as Eastern Sales Manager for Alternative Medicine magazine, and from 1992-2002 Bob was Advertising Sales Supervisor for Natural Health magazine. “I am impressed with all that Taste for Life has been doing,” says Mucci. “The editorial quality of the magazine is incredibly high, and the company places a real emphasis on helping its customers sell more products, which is what advertising should be all about. I look forward to building on those efforts, to helping Taste for Life continue to grow, and to launching the new remedies magazine.”
Anna R. Johnston has rejoined Taste for Life and remedies as National Sales Manager and looks forward to offering remedies to new customers. “A large number of stores do not sell grocery items or fresh produce, and these retailers aren’t always interested in the broad-based, holistic approach to health nutrition that Taste for Life provides so well. We’re delighted to now be able to serve retailers whose prime mission is supplement sales.”
