Nordic Naturals will celebrate Earth Week, April 16-22, with “What’s Essential: Healthy People. Healthy Oceans.” Through an array of events, contests and green activities, Nordic Naturals neighbors, customers, Facebook fans, and the general public will be informed and energized toward securing a healthy future for themselves and the earth’s oceans.
“At Nordic Naturals, we bring sustainability to everything we do,” said CEO Joar Opheim. “Since our founding, we have cared about the impact our activities have on the health of our oceans and on people around the world. Healthy people. Healthy oceans. It’s what’s essential.”
Nordic Naturals will engage its Facebook community in a variety of Earth Week activities. Fans will have the opportunity to learn about three nonprofits that work to preserve the ocean and then vote for one to receive a $5,000 donation from the company. Nordic Naturals employees have pledged to “live greener” during Earth Week. Those pledges, facts about the company’s sustainable practices, and tips about ways to protect the planet will be posted.
Fans will also have the chance to try Nordic Naturals’ award-winning omega-3 supplements through daily giveaways and the opportunity to share a “What’s Essential” story and be entered to win a trip to Santa Cruz, California, or one of 18 other prizes.
Nordic Naturals employees will team up with Save Our Shores, a nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for the marine environment, to clean up beautiful Manresa State Beach on Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to noon. Manresa is located on the shores of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary near Nordic Naturals’ headquarters in Watsonville, California. Those who live in the area are invited to join in. Volunteers will receive a “What’s Essential” Nordic Naturals t-shirt. Details are on Facebook.
Also on April 21, Nordic Naturals will participate as a Gold Sponsor at Earth Day Santa Cruz 2012 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at San Lorenzo Park. Nordic Naturals will offer free samples, tastings, and information about their omega-3 supplements, which are distributed around the globe.
