Nordic Naturals Sponsors Real Savvy Moms(TM) -- A National Health and Wellness Initiative for the 'New Mother' Market

Watsonville, California (November 14, 2005) Nordic Naturals is pleased to announce the sponsorship of an exciting new initiative, Real Savvy Moms™. Produced by Morphogenix, LLC in partnership with the American College of Nurse Midwives, this ground breaking program targets the “new mother” market. Launching this fall, the new program is a multi-media opportunity to reach real moms with practical information on health, parenting, beauty, nutrition, finance and fitness. Real Savvy Mom™ offers four tiers of outreach. Kicking off the initiative is a 3-day live-event mall tour in 10 key markets across the country providing a host of games and educational information as well as entertainment. In January 2006, a syndicated TV program “Real Moms, Real Stories, Real Savvy” is scheduled to air on public television. In addition, the website will serve as a one-stop destination for the latest nutritional and health-wellness information as well as an interactive forum for mothers to share, ask questions and sound off. Finally, Real Savvy Moms™ offers moms-to-be an educational CD-Rom distributed through its network of OB/GYN offices and certified nurse-midwives across the country.

Nordic Naturals’ involvement combines sponsorship, advertising and providing educational content. According to Michele Opheim, President of Nordic Naturals, “The Real Savvy Moms™ program is a perfect platform for Nordic Naturals to educate new moms about the importance of omega-3 fatty acids for mom and baby. In Norway, families understand this need because fish has always been such an important part of their diet. We started Nordic Naturals to offer American families a reliable source of DHA and EPA through fish oil supplementation.”

Scientific research has confirmed the need for pregnant and lactating women to increase their intake of DHA. This important nutrient is necessary for the development of baby’s vision, brain and nervous system first via the placenta, then through breastfeeding and finally through the diet. Healthy DHA levels have also been shown to support feelings of well-being in post-partum mothers. Research on the benefits of fish oils for mothers, children and their families can be found at Consumers and health care practitioners can receive an informative paper entitled “Cod Liver Oil in Pregnancy and Lactation: A Brief Review of Current Research” at no charge by calling 800.662.2544.

Founded by husband-and-wife team Joar and Michele Opheim, Nordic Naturals is the leader in Omega-3 fish oils and EFA blends with exceptional taste, freshness and purity levels.
