NOW Foods, the award winning natural products manufacturer, is expanding the company’s western US distribution facility by 130,000 square feet on the eight acre property the company recently purchased in Sparks, Nevada, with construction beginning this summer.
When the new facility opens in early 2012, the company will add 10 new jobs to its existing 29-employee workforce. NOW Foods has operated a 38,500-square-foot distribution facility in Sparks since 2003.
NOW plans a second phase of expansion that will include a manufacturing facility on the nearly eight-acre property the company purchased in Sparks.
“With the steady level of growth NOW Foods has experienced for a number of years, this step to enhance our customer service to our western US retailers is a good investment,” said Jim Emme, NOW’s Chief Operations Officer. “These investments will support our future growth and our mission to provide value in products and services that empower people to lead healthier lives.”
In keeping with the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainable practices, NOW Foods is building environmental efficiencies into the project and hopes to attain U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Silver certification for energy and other conservation measures at the site.
