NPA helps consumers shop for truly natural products this holiday season

The Natural Products Association's Natural Seal helps consumers easily identify products that contain at least 95 percent natural ingredients.

Looking for last minute gift items? Think natural products for those that mean the most to you. The Natural Products Association (NPA) helps consumers easily identify products that are truly natural with the Natural Seal, the first and only natural certification in the U.S. As a resource for consumers to find and then shop naturally, NPA offers the Natural Products Store Locator at

NPA certifies a wide variety of personal care products, including cosmetics, soaps, shampoos, sunscreens, lotions and pet products. Products certified by the NPA Natural Seal must be at least 95 percent natural ingredients or ingredients from natural sources, excluding water. NPA-certified products use natural ingredients, avoid ingredients with health risks, don’t use animal testing, and include a majority of biodegradable or recycled material in the packaging.
More than 750 products and ingredients have been certified natural. NPA-certified products can be found in more than 85,000 stores nationwide, ranging from independent retailers to some of the largest chains in the country. Here are some additional tips you can use when looking for natural products:
  • Read the label. Ingredients are the most important key to whether or not a product is truly natural. Avoid ingredients like parabens, phthalates, synthetic polymers, silicones, glycols and polysorbates.
  • Do your research. NPA lists all of the natural products by company that have earned the Natural Seal. Visit
  • Tell your friends. Let them know about the Natural Seal and how it helps identify whether a product is truly natural.
  • Get the latest updates on newly-certified natural products through social media. Like our Facebook page at or follow our Twitter feed at @NPANaturalSeal.
  • Shop at a store that sells natural personal care and home care products. Find a nearby retailer at
When it’s time to clean up after the holidays, don’t forget to look for NPA-certified natural home care products. NPA has certified nearly 50 home care products under the Natural Seal, including a variety of household cleaners and odor eliminators. Get NPA’s resources for consumers at
