(ANN ARBOR, MI) – NSF International (www.nsf.org), The Public Health and Safety Company™, awarded its first Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Registration to Arizona Nutritional Supplements. NSF is the world leader in standards development, product certification, education and risk-management services for public health and safety. Arizona Nutritional Supplements received its GMP registration through the NSF Dietary Supplements Certification Program.
The NSF GMP Dietary Supplements Program enables contract manufacturers to become independently registered by NSF as complying with GMP requirements. GMPs are guidelines that provide a system of processes, procedures and documentation to assure the product produced has the identity, strength, composition, quality and purity that it is represented to possess. NSF recently entered into a strategic alliance with National Nutritional Foods Association (NNFA) allowing NSF to accept the NNFA GMP audit for contract manufacturers. NNFA conducted a plant audit at the Arizona Nutritional Supplements facility to verify their compliance with GMPs. Arizona Nutritional Supplements will undergo annual GMP audits and monitoring audits to maintain the registration.
The NSF GMP Registration Program increases the credibility and offers a competitive advantage in the marketplace for contract manufacturers. The program decreases the time and cost for companies seeking third-party testing and product certification if they are using a NSF GMP registered contract manufacturer. The NSF GMP Registration Program is available to all contract manufacturers of dietary supplements. Contract manufacturers of dietary supplements that comply with GMP requirements receive NSF registration certificates and are listed on the NSF Web site.
“The coming of GMPs are here and we’re very excited to be the first GMP Certified Nutritional Contract Manufacturer to use the NSF Registration Mark,” said Greg St. Clair, Director of Sales & Marketing at Arizona. “We’ve worked extremely hard to make sure that our company was ready for this opportunity and especially identified NSF as a well-established and credible organization.”
“We are pleased that Arizona Nutritional Supplements is the first company to receive the NSF Good Manufacturing Practices registration,” said Kathleen Pompliano, NSF Business Development Manager. “The program represents an important step towards ensuring product quality. We look forward to offering these services to other manufacturing companies as the program continues to grow.”
