NSF Awards First GMP Registration in Asia

(ANN ARBOR, MI USA) – NSF International (www.nsf.org), The Public Health and Safety Company™ is pleased to announce the first Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Registration in Asia to the Wellable Group Marine Biological & Chemical Plant. NSF is the leading global provider of public health and safety risk management solutions. NSF awarded Wellable GMP registration through the NSF Dietary Supplement Program.

The NSF Dietary Supplement GMP Registration Program provides manufacturers a means to become independently registered as conforming to GMP requirements. GMPs are regulatory requirements that provide guidelines for necessary processes, procedures and documentation to assure the product produced has the identity, strength, composition, quality and purity it is represented to possess. NSF conducted a plant audit to verify compliance with GMPs and will conduct periodic audits at the Wellable facility to ensure continued conformance.

Current NSF Dietary Supplements Program GMPs are based on industry recommended GMPs provided to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under FDA's Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and are included in section 8 of NSF Draft American National Standard 173-Dietary Supplements. NSF will revise its GMPs to be consistent with USFDA’s GMPs when they are published.

Dietary supplement manufacturers complying with GMP requirements may use the NSF registration mark in literature and promotional materials. Contract manufacturers also receive NSF registration certificates and are listed on the NSF website www.nsf.org/Certified/GMP/Listings.asp?CertName.

“Wellable was the first company to receive NSF ingredient certification under the NSF Dietary Supplements Program and is now the first company to receive GMP registration in Asia,” said Ray Jaglowski, Vice President, New Business Development. “This GMP registration reflects Wellable’s continued commitment to ensuring quality and satisfaction and gives U.S. companies confidence that their plant operates in conformance to established GMPs.”

"We have made great improvement on many fields, especially for quality

assurance and control aspects through the NSF GMP Registration Program. We do believe that the NSF GMP Registration helps our company on international business development," said Mr. Yau Tin Chung, International Business Manager of Wellable.
