Nutrition Capital Network Announces First Investor Meeting Dedicated to Capital Formation in the Nutrition Industry, October 17, 2007

Unique matchmaking event aims to facilitate the financing process for nutrition, health, wellness, natural/organic and green product companies

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., August 8, 2007——With early deals showing healthy returns, a growing circle of private equity and venture capital funds is keen to invest in the nutrition industry. But they need help identifying the next generation of leading brands—and emerging companies need exposure to attract growth capital.

Nutrition Capital Network’s inaugural West Coast meeting in San Francisco on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 will present professionally screened companies to motivated financial and strategic investors in the nutrition, health, wellness, natural/organic and green products arena.

Nutrition Capital’s meeting is primarily designed for companies at two stages: Those new to raising outside capital, typically with revenues less than $5 million; and those looking for growth capital typically with revenues greater than $10 million.*

Companies raising capital and interested in the opportunity to present their business plan to investors are invited to visit to fill in a free application form. Only companies professionally screened and selected by Nutrition Capital Network will be eligible to present at the meeting.

Where and When: Nutrition Capital Network’s day-long Investor Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 17 at Campton Place hotel on Union Square in San Francisco. An opening reception and dinner precedes the event on the evening of October 16, co-hosted with Health + Wellness Investor Roundtable.

Thomas D. Aarts, Co-Chair & Principal
Tom is Managing Director of Nutrition Business Advisors LLC, a strategic advisory firm focused on the nutrition industry. He co-founded Nutrition Business Journal and is Founder and Co-Chair of the NBJ/Newport Summit, the premier executive retreat for the nutrition industry. Mike Dovbish, Director of Investment Camp
Mike was previously an Associate with Health Business Partners, an investment banking and consulting firm specializing in the natural products industry. Mike has participated in several buy-side engagements and was also responsible for managing the Healthy Products Capital Forum, a serial online event held by Health Business Partners and Natural Products Consulting. He was formerly a senior consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Steve Allen, Chairman of Screening Committee
Steve is Vice-President, New Ventures for Nestlé. He has been in the food industry for over twenty years, gaining experience in Africa, the Middle East, the Far East and Switzerland, in addition to North America. His current responsibilities are with the venture capital activities of Nestlé and the investments that Nestlé has made in start-up companies in the United States and Canada.

*Presenting companies will organized into two groups.
• First Round: Typically companies beyond proof of concept with revenues less than $5 million and raising outside or professional capital for the first time.
• Second Round or Later Stage: Typically companies that have raised structured capital before with revenues or $10 million or higher and looking for growth capital.
• All presenting companies will be pre-screened by Nutrition Capital Network and all will be either actively raising capital or just starting the process.
• Startup companies or those working on proof of concept may submit an application to Nutrition Capital Network for consideration. Our inaugural meeting is designed to satisfy professional investors' preferred desire for companies in the First Round or Later Stage. However NCN does include some wealthy individuals, angels and professional investors that make investments in startup or pre-revenue companies. NCN intends to present gold, silver and bronze awards to early stage companies that complete our application process prior to the October 17, 2007 meeting, but we are unlikely to make presentation time available that day.
