N.Y. Bans Ephedra Sales

New York governor George Pataki signed legislation making the sale of ephedra, an herbal supplement, punishable with a fine of $500 for each sale. The state becomes the second to ban ephedra as an over-the-counter product; it is still allowed in prescription forms, and follows rulings in several New York counties prohibiting sales.
