[8/31/2005] Ocean Nutrition Canada to Receives $15.5 Million Towards Factory
According to a CP article on Canada.com, Nova Scotia, Canada-based fish oil company Ocean Nutrition Canada (ONC), a subsidiary of Clearwater Fine Foods (TSX:CLR:UN), has received $15.5-million in government assistance to help build a manufacturing facility. According to the article, the province is set to invest $7 million providing jobs are created, as well as providing $6.5 million in loan guarantees and $2 million in land servicing grants. ONC is preparing to build a $21.5 million, 10,000 square meter manufacturing facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, a move that represents phase one of the company's planned expansion.

According to an article in the Twin Falls, Idaho Times-News, Ireland-based Glanbia is spending just under $3 million to expand capacity a the company's Gooding, Idaho processing plant by about 2,000 square feet (37%) in an expansion slated to be complete by November. The plant manufactures Glanbia Foods TruCal product, which is used to add calcium to food items such as bread and juice.

According to an article on M & C News, citing a report in China's Nation newspaper, the 'Red Bull' brand claims to have captured as much as 80% of the Chinese energy drink market with sales expected to reach 1.5 billion yuan ($170 million USD) this year. According to the article, the company's plant on the outskirts of Beijing is currently operating at full capacity (200 million cans a year) with additional investment planned in China by the joint venture between Thai businessman Chantchai Rouyrungrueng and Chaleo Yoowitthaya, the founder of Red Bull in Thailand, to quadruple capacity.
