P.L. Thomas strengthens staff with 3 hires

New food and beverage business director, senior food technologist and international marketing manager bring impressive experience to the ingredients marketing company. 

P.L. Thomas, a sales and marketing company for nutritional ingredients based in Morristown, N.J., has announced three new additions to its staff.

Mary Hiner joins P.L. Thomas as Director of the Food/Beverage Business Development. Mary has a B.S. and M.S. in food science and nutrition and has held several key technical, business development and innovation positions at food and beverage companies, including Pom Wonderful, BASF, General Mills and Kraft. She has extensive experience with digestive enzymes, prebiotics, natural colors, polyphenolics and other antioxidants. Mary will be working on increasing revenues for the Food and Beverage division by adding new products to the portfolio. She is active in the WFFA and the NYIFT where she is currently the treasurer.

Shadi Riazi joins P.L. Thomas as Senior Food Technologist. Shadi has a Ph.D. in food science (microbiology) from Rutgers and most recently was a food scientist in the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. She will focus on application support for the eatFresh/eatSafe food/beverage safety and BC-30 probiotic product lines as well as providing sales and customer support for the other ingredients marketed by P.L. Thomas.

Robert Berman is the new International Marketing Manager at P.L. Thomas. His duties include full strategic and tactical oversight of P.L. Thomas' corporate and ingredient brands. He will build marketing support for P.L. Thomas' expanding international presence and will strengthen the coordination between sales and marketing management. Bob has both B2B and B2C marketing experience with DSM, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Bayer Consumer and Farbest Brands. At DSM, Bob was a key member of the team which developed "i-cool for menopause," a genistein-based menopause relief supplement, currently available in most retail chains. Bob has an MBA from Columbia University.
