The J.H. Chapman Group cosponsored the second annual 2012 US/China Roundtable, "China: The Challenge and the Opportunity," held July 24, 2012, in conjunction with the three-day NBJ Summit in Dana Point, Calif. This innovative and proactive invitation-only event served as a forum for exchange and discussion between approximately 70 nutrition industry leaders, many of whom have had operations in China for many years.
The Roundtable participants discussed unique opportunities and issues for foreign companies in the health and nutrition sector, specifically for products sourced from, manufactured in and/or distributed in the Chinese market.
There was consensus on China's positive market potential, but key concerns addressed by presenters and participants included food safety, intellectual property, corruption, supply chain control, and various legal aspects. Presentations were made by cosponsors Baker & McKenzie and InterChina Consulting, as well as by specific company participants.
