September 30, 2004—Purity Life Health Products, based in Acton Ontario, is the recipient of the 2004 Spotlight Award from the Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA). They received their award at the CHFA’s Expo East in Toronto on September 25.
The CHFA Spotlight Award is an annual award that recognizes a supplier in an emerging industry category who has managed to establish a reputation for quality of product and service. The category for 2004 was health and beauty aids. This supplier would show professional attitude, exemplary conduct, and innovative practices that have helped expand the category as well as the natural health product industry as a whole. This award is intended to acknowledge and encourage the recipient to continue in their efforts.
The CHFA honoured Purity Life with the 2004 Spotlight Award saying, “[Purity Life] is well known for its strict quality control, innovative products and excellent customer service. But, it’s also launched a number of seminars, workshops and training programs to keep its retailers informed and up-to-date on the latest innovations and products it’s coming out with. This commitment to organizational education makes it a staff favourite wherever its products are sold.”

David Chapman, owner and President of Purity Life Health Products, is no stranger to the accolades that accompany his business. In addition to several specific product awards, Purity Life has received over the years, they received the Canadian Health Food Association Expo East “Supplier of the Year” award in 2000.
Taking the stage with a crew of Purity Life executives, customer service consultants and sales representatives, David extended his heartfelt gratitude to receive the award. The people from Purity were particularly pleased to be honoured with the Spotlight Award that night, because it coincided with the 20th anniversary of Purity Life. Earlier in the week, they had hosted a celebratory dinner in their hometown of Acton Ontario that included local dignitaries as well as friends, family, associates, suppliers and retail partners from across Canada and the United States.
Purity Life opened its doors in 1984, with only a handful of products. Through a lot of hard work, spirit and industry savvy, they evolved into not only a major Canadian supplier of natural health products and foods, but also a manufacturer of their own lines of vitamins and minerals, Nature’s Harmony® and Vivitas. Today, Purity Life represents more than 160 product lines with roughly 6,800 SKUs and 2,800 customers across Canada.
Chapman credits much of the company’s success to quality products, excellent executive management, dedicated staff, and strict inventory and quality control. The company also has a special relationship with each of its retail customers across the country and strives to be a value-added supplier that offers innovative new products and integrative consumer marketing, sales and educational programs.
